Key Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-12

Introduction: So far in this series, we have learned who our enemy is. Additionally, in leaning who our enemy is, we have learned who we are. Tonight, we will be reminded of who our Lord is.

Who Is Jesus?  Our Commander in Chief, and the Captain of our Salvation. – Hebrews 2:10
 He is the Lord Jesus Christ. – Philippians 2:9-11

Where Did Jesus Come From?
 He existed with the Father and the Holy Spirit from the beginning. *John 1:1-4;14)
 He left His place in heaven and came to earth. (John 8:42; Philippians 2:5-11)
 He was par of God’s plan before the world was created. (I Peter 1:18-20)

What Is Jesus’ Purpose?
Some of the things He came to do: (John 21:25)

To seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10)
o To bring everlasting life to whosoever would believe on Him and to save the world (John 3:16-17)
o To show the world what God is like (John 10:30; John 14:8-9)
o To destroy the works of the devil (I Jon 3:8)
o To do good and heal all who are oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38)
o To preach the gospel to the poor, to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18-19)

o To give us life and life more abundantly (john 10:10)
o To offer His own blood as the perfect sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins *Hebrews 9:12)
o To redeem us from the curse of the law so we could be blessed (Deuteronomy 28: Galatians 3:13-14)

His present and future work in us
Transformation (John 3:2; Romans 12:29; II Corinthians 3:17)

Conclusion: Sadly, there are many people who claim they know Jesus, but they really don’t. Their lives testify of this. Next week, we will do Part 2 of knowing Jeuss and discuss two aspect: (1) Who Composes (Make Up) God’s Army and (2) The Scope And Limits of Jesus’ Power And Sphere of influence.
